MOUNT MAKING & MUSEUM SERVICES | SCIENTIFIC MATERIAL ANALYSIS

Scientific Analysis

Scientific analysis is a vital tool for today’s curator: it is increasingly used to help determine provenance, to better understand the material composition and condition of an object; to inform conservation choices; and to discover previously unknown, or merely suspected, historic information that can be used to refresh or revise interpretative documentation.

Our range of Scientific analysis services includes (but is not limited to):

X-ray Diffraction (XRD)
X-ray Fluorescence (XRF)
Portable X-ray Fluorescence (pXRF)
Scanning Electron Microscopy – Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS)
Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and X-Ray
